Following the nation’s initiative to plant 500 million seedlings within overnight under the theme “Let’s Plant the Future Today’’, our company has been undertaking the necessary preparations to leave a mark on green legacy and ensure environmental protection and development. In line with this, Ethio telecom has officially kicked off the 5th round Green Legacy tree planting program today in the company’s offices nationwide.
As a launching program, our company, at the corporate and Zonal level has planted seedlings today in July 17,2023 in the capital at Akaki Kality sub-city extending from Woreda 04 Gellan Condominium to Woreda 02 junction and Bole Sub-city Woreda 12, in the ICT park route, specifically around Filhuha while the company’s 17 regions countrywide have planted seedlings in the sites they are granted. Over six thousand and five hundred employees of the company as well as its 300 partners took part in this seedling plantation program.
In this seedling plantation green legacy initiative season, our company has set out to plant 400k seedlings till July 3o, 2023 nationwide and budgeted over 35 million ETB for planting and care of tree seedlings so as to foster a green culture and enable eco-tourism of the nation.
Over the past four consecutive years, Ethio telecom has planted more than 3.4 million seedlings at 603 sites across the country of which over 81% of the seedlings are survived and has contributed its part to promote afforestation and the greenery effort geared towards combating desertification, drought, the rising deforestation and environmental degradation as well as created a job opportunity for over 17 thousand citizens. In addition to this, it has donated 5 million ETB for Dire Gidib/dam virtual seedling plantation and protection program located around Lagadadi.

Our company, over the last four consecutive years of green legacy initiative and eco-tourism programs, has invested over 736.2 -million-birr.
