It is recalled that our company in its strong aspiration to go beyond basic connectivity services, keeps on devotedly introducing various cutting-edge technologies and digital solutions that can transform the nation’s economic and social landscape revolutionizing institutional operations and improving the daily lifestyles of our citizens. In particular, it has been undertaking comprehensive digital service expansion to ensure financial inclusion by expanding access to digital solutions, thereby advancing its journey towards realizing digital Ethiopia.  Among these initiatives, it is remembered that our company made strategic agreements with the Oromia National Regional State and Shaggar City Administration to implement the digital solutions and digital financial services as well as Smart City project.

Today, Ethio telecom proudly launched an advanced Smart Parking System in Shaggar City, a cutting-edge solution designed to enhance parking services as part of the broader Smart City initiative.

The Smart Parking System allows users to effortlessly locate nearby parking spaces, save time by identifying available spots, access secure services, and conveniently complete payments through telebirr. This all-in-one experience—find, park, and pay—simplifies parking while elevating user convenience.

This system enables drivers to easily identify free parking zones and parking spaces whenever they need parking services, to save the time and energy they spend while looking for parking and to get access to a reliable parking service that minimizes the risk of crime and theft as well as to lessen disputes related to overstated service rates and to protect them from unnecessary expenses and ups and downs by easily settling the official payment rate via telebirr while securing payment receipts easily.

The System empowers the Shagger City administration to effectively identify licensed parking service providers, seamlessly integrate them into the regulatory framework, curtail illicit practices linked to parking services, and make informed, data-driven administrative decisions. By accessing service provider information online via a user-friendly dashboard, this system not only enhances operational efficiency but also fosters job opportunities for youth and women affiliated with associations, thereby securing their economic prosperity. By promoting authorized parking providers and streamlining revenue collection, the system helps the city administration maintain order, enhance safety, and improve the overall urban environment. This, in turn, attracts investors and contributes to the city’s economic growth.

The system empowers parking service providers by enabling them to efficiently manage vehicle information, prevent unpaid services, and easily identify and accommodate vacant parking spaces. It streamlines vehicle check-in and check-out processes and facilitates convenient, time-based payments through telebirr. Beyond modernizing parking services, this system offers service providers additional income opportunities as telebirr agents and enables them to access savings and microcredit provided by telebirr financial services.

The smart parking system offers services to both smartphone users and those with basic mobile phones. Smartphone users can access the system through the telebirr SuperApp Driver application, while others can use SMS. The system also includes a professional dashboard that allows parking attendants to receive service requests. By offering an SMS-based option, the system ensures inclusivity for users who may not have smartphones or apps.

Our company is striving to implement initiatives that would speed up our country’s digital transformation journey by creating partnerships with various regions and city administrations across the country, and we would sincerely express our commitment to further strengthen our partnership in enhancing our technological support and similar endeavors to modernize operational activities of the institutions through deploying comprehensive digital solutions.
