It is to be remembered that, ethio telecom has issued International Competitive Bid for the procurement of Pole Hole Digger and Cable Drum Trailer” with RFQ NO. 4251866; with a floating period from December 15, 2023 3 to January 15, 2024. In connection to this, some of the bidders have requested us clarification on the technical issues and extension of bid closing and opening dates.

Following this, to give sufficient time for our esteemed bidders, we would like to extend the bid closing and opening date by Fifteen (10) days. Therefore, bidders are expected to submit their proposal on or before January 23, 2024 until 5:00PM and the bid opening shall be held January 24, 2024 in the morning at 10:00AM.

Clarification Request for Pole Hole Digger and Cable Drum RFQ=4251866   

  1. We noticed a discrepancy in the specifications for the Cable Drum Trailer. In technical requirements, s/no 24 and 27, there is a discrepancy in the described spindle diameter, trailer width, and  length. In s/no 24, it states that the trailer shall be designed to support drum sizes up to 2.6mm (drum diameter), while in the 2nd part of the s./no 29 technical requirements, it describes a maximumdrum   size he trailer should support as 1800 mm max (drum diameter). Manufacturer is Product Data Sheet. Kindly inform us which technical requirement we should adhere to.
  • please use a maximum drum diameter of 2.6 meters
  1.  Is it appropriate to request sample Submission for items that has a weight of more than 2400KG so kindly recheck and let us know your decision.
  • The Samples are Mandatory requirements, but you are not required to submit the samples with the Bid offer only the Awarded bidders are requested to submit Samples after the evaluation is finalized.
  1. If the samples imported to ethio telecom, meets the requirements, will they be considered as part of the procurement, as partially delivered by the bidder?
  • The items will be added to the remaining quantities if the samples pass our sample Test evaluation.
  1. Is there any way in which ethio telecom compensate or cover the costs of transporting and import customs charge for the samples? or should the samples be delivered to ethio telecom as per the delivery schedule indicated on the bid (FCA port of loading)?
  • Ethio telecom does not cover the Cost of delivery for the sample items but will issue a support letter if needed for Custom Clearance Purpose.
