Ethio telecom has been Advancing its journey towards realizing digital Ethiopia in ensuring digital services accessibility and the financial inclusion across the country. As part of this commitment, our company has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Oromia Region Revenue Bureau today that would enable the customers of the Oromia Region Revenue Bureau settle their tax and custom commission payments at their convenience and without any hustle via telebirr which is easy, fast, convenient and secured digital payment platform.
The telebirr based digital payment system partnership agreement would immensely empower the Oromia Regional Revenue Bureau to provide digital system supported tax payment system, deliver efficient services for its customers’/tax payers, to save time and reduce its operational cost, to avoid the payment receipt related frauds, to attract the investment and to bring about the good governance in the region.
In addition to enabling to easily collect taxes and custom commission payments timely, the telebirr digital payment platform (telebirr Super App or USSD (*127#) would play paramount roles for the tax payers of the Oromia Region Revenue as it is user friendly, convenient and secured service payment platform and helps them get payment authentication receipt upon real time payment.
Our company in partnership with Oromia Region Revenue Bureau has already finalized all necessary preparations prior to the implementation of the digital payment system by providing the employees of the Regional Revenue Bureau all the required on-job training on the telebirr based service charge/tax collection and on related issues as well as on the Level C tax payers awareness training; and also conveyed short message to all tax payers announcing that they can settle their tax payments via telebirr digital payment system.
In a recent memory, our company made a strategic partnership agreement with the Ministry of Revenue and Ethiopian Customs Commission and implemented telebirr based digital payment system to timely collect taxes from the higher tax payers as well as to easily collect custom tax payments from the imported goods. In a similar fashion, our company is currently working on with other regional states to implement telebirr based tax payments.
We would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely call for other similar institutions/organizations to integrate their service payments with telebirr and join the digitalize payment system.
