Ethio telecom, in its pursuit and strong aspirations to go “beyond connectivity,” remains dedicated to making Ethiopia’s 2025 digital vision a reality. In line with this commitment, our company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Water and Energy to implement smart utility solutions aimed at advancing the digital transformation of the Ministry of Water and Energy operations and services.

This strategic agreement primarily aims to digitize the data of the Ministry of Water and Energy and its affiliated institutions, using Ethio telecom’s state-of-the-art cloud infrastructure. It also seeks to facilitate integration between federal and regional lower-level offices, such as regional, zonal, woreda, and kebele level water offices, to enable the timely exchange of data and information. The agreement also involves implementing solutions to monitor inflows, outflows, and water levels in real-time, with integration into data centers. Additionally, it aims to digitize water metering for institutional, commercial, and private water customers.

Moreover, the partnership agreement will play a pivotal role in increasing the efficiency of the Ministry of Water and Energy and its affiliated operations. It aims to enhance the reliability of the services offered by the ministry and its associates while ensuring the sustainability of these services through data-driven decision making. Additionally, the agreement will provide comprehensive professional support on all aspects of the project, including the digitization of end customers’ payments.

As per the agreement, the Ministry of Water and Energy will provide Ethio telecom with all the necessary information, data, and documents required to implement the agreement. In return, Ethio telecom will install and expand productivity tools and digital solutions, share all the necessary information and data with the Ministry of Water and Energy, provide technical support and training/capacity building, arrange suitable payment mechanisms, and deliver high-quality, efficient, and affordable digital infrastructure as outlined in the agreement framework.

Ethio telecom, driven by its strong vision and commitment to propel Ethiopia’s digital transformation, has signed several strategic agreements with government and private service-rendering institutions. The goal of these agreements is to digitize and revolutionize service delivery, address inefficiencies, enhance the lives of citizens, and empower valued customers with cutting-edge technologies.
