Ethio telecom, our country’s leading telecom and digital solutions provider, continues its nationwide 5G expansion with the launch of 5G services today in the city of Bale Robe _the newly formed South South East Region and Assela City and their environs. Furthermore, our company is proud to have extended the 4G LTE Advanced service to 114 cities across the South East and South South East regions, enabling local communities to access digital and digital financial services beyond basic connectivity.

Since the launch of Ethiopia’s first 5G network in Addis Ababa in 2022, Ethio telecom has steadily expanded its next-generation wireless technology to major cities nationwide. So far, we have successfully rolled out 5G services in 16 cities, including Addis Ababa, Adama, Jigjiga, Dire Dawa, Harar, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, Wolaita Sodo, Hosaena, Arba Minch, Bishoftu, Jimma, Dessie, Kombolcha and today Bale Robe and Assela.

The 4G LTE Advanced Service in 114 Cities!

In line with its pivotal role in driving the Ethiopia’s digital transformation, our company has successfully completed an extensive network expansion project in the two regions. This initiative is aimed at empowering citizens to benefit from digital solutions and digital financial services that go beyond basic connectivity. As a result, the advanced 4G LTE service is now available in 114 cities.

Specifically, to expand ultra-high-speed 4G LTE network services in the South-South East Region, we upgraded 177 existing sites and built 58 new ones. These efforts have enabled 56 towns in the region to access and enjoy the benefits of 4G LTE network services. Consequently, customers in the following towns within the South-South East Region can now take advantage of this enhanced connectivity.
