Our company is engaged in implementing large-scale strategic activities to become a reliable partner in providing telecom technology. These efforts aim to realize the vision of a digital Ethiopia by modernizing service provision for day-to-day operations of institutions and expanding access to cutting-edge telecom infrastructure, a key enabler for our country’s digital transformation.

In line with this initiative, our company today signed a strategic partnership agreement with the renowned Addis Ababa University. The agreement aims to implement a smart campus solution at the Sidist Kilo Campus and digitalize medication fee settlements of the Black Lion General Specialized Hospital using telebirr.

Under the smart campus solution agreement, our company, in collaboration with Addis Ababa University, will implement smart classrooms equipped with essential facilities to ensure inclusive learning and higher-quality education as well as to access educational materials, enhance technology-driven laboratories, conduct exams with real-time marking, and generate students’ grade reports. Additionally, our company will install CCTV cameras along with a control room, deploy a campus fiber network, and establish necessary infrastructure to monitor the campus entrance gates, main administrative buildings, museum, cafeterias, libraries, and residential buildings for students and foreign citizens at Addis Ababa University.

This measure is designed to uphold a safe and secure environment, thus enabling seamless teaching and learning activities. The agreement also includes the implementation of a sophisticated smart digital solution aimed at efficiently managing vehicle and visitor access management through the utilization of advanced biometric technology, access cards, and QR code-operated systems. This pioneering smart campus technology solution, among the first of its kind in our country, will enhance the university’s environment competitiveness on an international level.

Moreover, our company has signed strategic partnership agreement with Addis Ababa University’s Black Lion General Specialized Hospital Medical Faculty to settle online medical service payments via the telebirr digital financial platform. This telebirr based digital payment service includes fees for emergency, outpatient and inpatient diagnostics, laboratory services, pharmacy, surgery, and other related medical services. It also comprises pre-treatment deposits and post-treatment refunds for any remaining balance. This initiative aims to provide clients with easy access to efficient services while significantly reducing the hospital’s administrative costs by modernizing its daily operations. In a previous partnership agreement with the university, our company is engaged in integrating Addis Ababa University campuses with high-speed internet service, establishing smart classrooms, providing telebirr digital solutions for student registration, entrance examination, museum, and other services payment. Additionally, the agreement involves collaborating on the training of our company’s professionals in telecom network engineering and telecom information systems, creating university-industry links, and deploying technologies and infrastructure to support research and innovation.  In addition, it is important to note that the Ministry of Education, our company, and Addis Ababa University have reached an agreement to digitize the student registration and payment process for the Graduate Admission Test (GAT), which is conducted to identify eligible applicants from public and private higher educational institutions for enrollment in their post-graduate programs.  Our company will continue to strengthen its multifaceted strategic partnership with Addis Ababa University to enhance the quality of education and realize the vision of Digital Ethiopia by deploying state-of-the-art technologies aimed at modernizing working systems and playing a crucial role in making the ongoing national efforts more effective and successful.
